Bespoke Ring No. 12: Robust Matte Dendritic Agate Statement Ring

A striking balance of bold proportions and organic elegance, this robust ring is crafted with a soft, tactile matte finish that anchors its statement scale.

At its heart sits a remarkable agate, displaying a warm, translucent depth. Preserved within the stone is a delicate, moss-like inclusion that unfurls like a miniature underwater garden or an autumn frost caught in time.

The stone is set in a matte-finished fine silver bezel, augmented by two side-by-side prongs - one in sterling silver, the other in 9ct gold. The off-center placement balancing the asymmetrical, botanical inclusions in the stone.

On the reverse, a clean, matte sterling silver backplate securely houses the stone, proudly bearing our maker’s mark and a standard 925 hallmark stamped on a round disc.

Designed for Wearability 

Large statement rings often suffer from “spinning” on the finger, but this piece has been specifically engineered to stay in place.

• The Band: A substantial 4.5mm wide sterling silver band - rounded on the outside for a smooth look and feel, but flat on the inside to balance the large proportions of the stone.
• Ergonomic Anti-Spin Geometry: as shown in the side profile views, the band features a specialised D-shaped interior fit and a slight U-shape profile. Unlike a traditional complete circle, this flattened top edge rests flush against your finger, acting as a natural stabilizer to prevent the heavy stone from turning.

Sizing & Fit Note

Because of its unique, ergonomic shape, this ring behaves a little differently than a standard circular band: 

• The Size: the band was cut to fit a Size N 1/2
• The Fit: Due to the wide 4.5mm band, the projection of the stone setting sitting on top, and the unique contours of individual hands, it may feel slightly different on the finger. However, the flat-top design makes the sizing more forgiving than a traditional round ring.
• Please Note: Due to the stone type and design, this ring cannot be resized  after it is made.

every piece is uniquely hand-fabricated inside my Northern Sydney garden studio. I use primarily fine silver, 925 sterling silver - recycled, when possible - combined with various gold alloys (ranging from 9-18ct) as accents. My work features curated, non-standard gemstones chosen specifically for their rare inclusions and raw, unrepeatable crystalline geometry. Visible tool marks and natural textures are intentional architectural elements of the design.

Often my work is oxidised - a chemical process that darkens the silver to varying degrees, even entirely black. Oxidised work is sealed with a special wax to maximise the patina's lifespan but by its nature, a patina is a superficial finish and not entirely permanent. Wear from friction is a natural, expected part of the finish. To clean oxidised sterling silver, wash gently with room temperature water and a mild dish soap, then dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Do not use chemical jewellery dips, sonic cleaners, or harsh polishing cloths, as these will strip away the intentional dark patinas and can permanently damage delicate druzy crusts or raw mineral inclusions. Store your wearable sculpture flat, in its own box and in a dry space away from direct moisture and prolonged sunlight.
